Butterby Shetland Ponies Successful Start to Season

The 2008 Showing Season for Shetland Ponies and the Butterby Shetland Stud could not have been better.

Wins at the Yorkshire Spring Show; East Of England; Yorkshire CHAPS Regional Show; Malvern - Three Counties; Lanchester and the Great Yorkshire and the Royal Show; have been exceptional.

Butterby Isis; Butterby Kracker and Butterby Express have all won major Championships and Reserves at their early shows.

Butterby Kracker was Reserve Champion at the Three Counties in Malvern and this was followed up with the same position at the Great Yorkshire Show where he had won the Stallion Class in the Shetland section and then achieved his Reserve Champion status.

Meanwhile; Butterby Isis was Supreme Champion at the Yorkshire Spring Show and Shetland Champion at the NCPA Spring Show whilst also winning under saddle at Lanchester Show.

Butterby Express, the 'old man' was first in his class and Reserve Champion at the Yorkshire CHAPS show at Richmond Equestrian Centre, he then went to the East of England Show and was Shetland Champion; CHAPS Champion and Overall Mountain and Moorland Champion; winning the NPS Silver Medal and Kilmannon Qualifyer. 

Travelling on to the Royal Show; Express won the stallion class for the thrid year in a row and went on to secure his championship rosette for best of opposite sex as the reserve champion and also the best home bred pony. This was the third time in a row that Butterby Express had gained the award for Best Pony of Opposite Sex to the Champion. 

Moving up to Yorkshire for the Great Yorkshire Show it was a double for Butterby Shetlands with Kracker winning the stallion class and Express coming second.  Kracker went on to be awarded the Reserve Champion spot.

Butterby Isis was third in her class so each pony came home from the 150th Yorkshire Show with a 'ticket'.

What was very pleasing was the number of ponies that were about that were bred or associated with Express as his progeny.

This had been the case at the Northern Horse show at Wetherby where Butterby Havannah had won the Championship in the Shetlands.
