Northern Shetland Enthusiasts

Photograph shows Kayleigh Wilkinson presenting (our youngest member with our most senior member) Mrs A D Newall with a bouquet of flowers from the Northern Shetland Enthusiast group as a mark of appreciation for hosting a stud visit on 18th November 2007.
Mrs Newall, 85, started with Shetlands at an early age and her picture boards went back to 1927.
A well known and successful breeder and exhibitor of Shetland Ponies Mrs Newall went on to judge Shetlands for many years until recently having to retire as increased class sizes made judging for several hours particularly arduous.
In addition to her passion for Shetlands Mrs Newall is equally well known for her breeding and exhibiting of Fell Ponies and twenty two were on show along side a dozen Shetlands for the Northern Enthusiasts to admire.
Mrs Newall is currently President of the Fell Society and her Toddridge Farm in Northumberland recently hosted a President's day for over seventy people.
Her Shetland visitors braved the coldest weather of the winter to take part in what they all agreed was a most worthwhile morning.
Supported by family and friends Mrs Newall provided a vivid and often humorous history of showing and breeding over the past 60 years with current and former grooms helping to parade the animals for the visitors to see.
Our thanks go to all concerned for a most enjoyable and informative visit.
